Dreaming I'm Alive

The semester started and I haven't died quite yet...

This my first children's book assignment. It's illustrating the mother goose poem As I was going to St. Ives.

"As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives;
Every wife had seven sacks,
Every sack had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits;
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?"

The photo is shotty, and I'm not actually sure if I'm happy with it, but I am actually kind of optimistic about the class. We'll see if it lasts. I'm not very good at the cutesy stuff.

I'm kind of excited about my New York Observer class. The first piece we did is for a book called Out Of My Skin. Essentially it's about a Steve Martin impersonator...

The 15 pager I started over break is going slowly but surely but slowly. I have pencilled all the pages, but have been inking them sporadically. Most pages have like a couple panels half inked... This is one of the pages that is actually finished:

And this is one of the first watercolor pieces I tackled last summer in my attempt to educate myself:

I found it under some stuff when I went home for winter break. It was part of a series, but this one was clearly the best.

There is some other stuff... when I get around to scanning it.
But that's all for now.

Your first two assignments look great-- that egg in the glass is just a really nice painting.

Can't wait to see the whole comic :B
